About Us

Dave & Shelia Bale

Dave has been an avid upland bird hunter since his mid-twenties.  It was shortly after his first upland hunting season that he acquired his first hunting partner, Dusty, a ten-week-old, female English Setter. Since then, he has owned, trained and hunted alongside multiple dogs, including German Shorthaired, Gordon Setters and, now, a Pointer.

Dave combines his skill and enthusiasm as a former college educator and basketball coach with his passion for upland bird dogs to make his style of training dogs fun and an “I get to do this every day!” adventure. He enjoys watching the dogs catch on to the new skills and the enthusiastic response of the owner as they witness the change in their hunting partner while learning the techniques themselves.

Shelia, Dave’s wife, shares his love of the outdoors and passion for dogs. Though not a hunter herself, her dad was an avid hunter who shared his appreciation and respect of nature and wildlife with her from a young age. Early in their marriage, Dave and Shelia got their first hunting dog, Cocoa, a German Shorthaired, and she was smitten. The grace, intensity, athleticism and big personalities of the upland hunting breeds has captured her heart. A bonus is that she gets to watch Dave share his passion with like-minded individuals!

Together, Dave and Shelia desire to provide you with a personalized training experience that will result in an exceptional, lifelong relationship between you and your hunting dog. They look forward to walking with you on that journey. Contact them soon to get started!

Testimonials

“We decided a number of years ago to assist individuals, like Dave Bale, who desire to get into the dog training business by offering a full-service apprenticeship program. Not many make it through the three-month apprenticeship as the days are long and the daily work can be very physical. The very hot and humid weather of the south poses its own set of challenges…
